Between the Stops is a citywide poetry and photography project that places creative work by artists connected to Portsmouth in many different ways into the everyday journeys of the city. Presented across bus infrastructure throughout Portsmouth, the project explores ideas of movement, pause and connection — inviting people to encounter words and images as part of their daily travel. The poetry is currently circulating on buses and will continue to be visible until the end of February, while a series of photographic works responding to the theme of journey will follow, extending the project across the city’s transport network. As Portsmouth marks 100 years since being granted city status, Between the Stops offers a welcoming way to open the Portsmouth100 celebrations, using shared public infrastructure to carry creative voices through the streets that connect us all.
