INTRODUCING
ALYS SCOTT- HAWKINS
I'm an artist based in Southampton, and I work freelance as a specialist in Artist Support, providing guidance and advice to creative people, to help overcome barriers, plan projects and make funding applications.
I support creative practitioners of all kinds, including musicians, writers, performers, designers and educators. My background is in visual arts and film and I have expertise which can support people working in these fields. I’m a member of the advisory panel for a-n: the UK’s largest membership organisation for visual artists, advocating on crucial issues from fair pay to intellectual property.
My professional experience covers 20 years since graduating from the Royal College of Art and includes:
- 18 years of teaching Fine Art and Animation at universities, with a focus on professional development
- 12 years of running my own creative business as an animation director
- 3 years of running a programme of support for visual artists
- working with with and for regional and national arts organisations
- commissions for national charities and broadcast TV
- exhibiting my work at galleries and film festivals all over the world
- presenting my work at conferences and festivals
- winning awards and securing funding to support my work
I’m offering these free 1-to-1 sessions through POSE to support this brilliant event and get to know artists in and around Portsmouth. I look forward to meeting you!
Best wishes,
Alys
