There are certainly influences of Dada and German expressionism alongside pop art and comic strip in my work, but the appearance and content is as unique as I can make it. The process is spontaneous and immediate, relying on and trusting intuition to bring together a conclusive piece that works on many levels. Ultimately it is a personal and unique statement, invariably political but respectful of the sense and power of absurdity. It requires scrutiny more than just a glance as the devil is definitely in the detail. Meaning as an invented phenomenon doesn’t always conform to a consensus. In other words it’s not factual but open to interpretation and § becomes a creative playground in which to experiment so that my work looks like it couldn’t have been made by anyone else. That’s extremely important.
