I am a figurative painter and artist based in Portsmouth and Southsea, with a focus on portraiture. My main areas of interest lie in social issues, exploring attitudes to mental health through community engagement.

My practice examines multiple perspectives towards the word culture and the elitist connotations it can invoke. My intent is to challenge knee-jerk judgments and stereotyping utilising portraiture as a catalyst for communication and therapy. 

I am best known for painting John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood, exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in 2009. My work resides as part of Portsmouth city art collection, Portsmouth Football Club and the Royal Navy. As well as the National Portrait Gallery, I have been exhibited at the National Galleries of Scotland, the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Society of Marine Artists and is featured in the book 500 portraits: BP Portrait Award by Sandy Nairn.
