Fare to Remember is a cross-disciplinary project exploring Portsmouth’s heritage through the lens of public bus travel. As an Art & Heritage photographer and part-time bus driver, I use my daily routes to observe and record fragments of civic life—faded shopfronts, brutalist towers, overlooked signage, and overheard stories. These details often escape official archives but speak volumes about place, class, and memory. Combining high-resolution photography, satirical writing, and community engagement, I aim to create a participatory visual archive that honours the city’s layered identity.
With a background in photography, performance, and heritage documentation, my practice is rooted in socially engaged storytelling. This project will culminate in a public exhibition during the centenary celebration in 2026 and a limited-edition artist book that reimagines urban observation as a form of cultural preservation.
